Sep 16, 2026 10:00pm Specialized Domains Industrial / Manufacturing Defense / Aerospace FPGA --> The new Lattice Mach-N2 FPGA provides SNSA 2.0 compliance for post-quantum cryptography. (Lattice Semiconductor) Post-quantum preparedness is a hot topic with infrastructure providers. Many are scurrying to meet recent mandates designed to prevent attacks once quantum computing advances to the point when current encryption become irrelevant. To get ready, Lattice Semiconductor announced Wednesday the Lattice Mach-N2 family of FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) for system control and security. It combines integrated flash, a root of trust and SNSA 2.0 compliant Post-Quantum Cryptography. The company also announced an FPGA natural language development tool called Lattice Prompt to make design processes more efficient. “Demands on system control and security are accelerating as post-quantum mandates take hold,” said Esam Elashmawi, chief strategy and marketing officer at Lattice. “Customers building long-lifecycle infrastructure seek solutions to help them design with today and tomorrow’s security needs in mind.” The Mach-N2 offers double the logic density of prior controls and is CNSA 2.0-compliant, with best in class cryptography, including AES-256-GCM. In 2024, Lattice announced the Certus-N2 in its Nexus 2 family, offering a general purpose FPGA with low power demands. Then, the Mach-N2 was announced Wednesday for non-volatile secure control. Soon, the company plans to introduce a CrossLink-N2 FPGA for video connectivity. In a briefing with Fierce , Lattice said the Mach-N2 will provide industry-leading security advantages, including over competitors such as AMD Artix US+ and AMD Sartan US+, as well as Altera Agilex 5E and Altera Agilex 3. Two differentiators are Lattice’s ability to provide PQC services and full CNSA 2.0 support. Only Mach-N2 combines internal configuration flash, under 30 millisecond boot and full CNSA 2.0 support, Lattice said. Lattice hardware is primarily programmable logic that works with sensors in a system, handling sensor aggregation, sensor fusion processing, camera and vision interfaces, Edge AI inference and real-time control and security. This makes Lattice a company to watch in embedded vision and camera systems and multi-sensor robotics. “Sensors are a big thing and everything is getting more intelligence with sensors a big part of that,” said Lattice senior product manager Peiju Chiang in comments to Fierce. FPGAs from Lattice offer parallel processing and high I/O to handle multiple sensor input and then aggregate that and sent that data back to the server. “The beauty of Lattice is the different logic ranges and how many sensors we can find with the I/O mix and the right density.” Chiang said the Mach-N2 may find the largest set of customers in networking and server board applications, but could also be applied to robotics. “The robotics landscape is quickly changing and when not standardized, that’s the best use for an FPGA,” he said.
