BANNOCKBURN, Ill. — North American printed circuit board manufacturers shipped 23.5% more product in August than they did a year earlier, even as new orders pulled back sharply following a surge in July. PCB shipments increased 5.2% from July and were up 15.5% through the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to the Global Electronics Association. New orders, or bookings, told a different story in August. Bookings fell 35% from August 2025 and 78.1% from July. However, year-to-date bookings remained 38.7% higher than during the same period last year. “PCB shipments continued to strengthen in August, though the month also brought a pullback in new orders following July’s surge,” said Shawn DuBravac, chief economist for the Global Electronics Association. “The results this month likely represent a quick pause after several months of strong order flow.” The industry's three-month book-to-bill ratio stood at 1.29. That means manufacturers received $1.29 in new orders for every $1 of product shipped and billed during the three-month period.
